Hejnal Song and Dance Ensemble

hails from Brantford Ontario and takes its name from the historical “bugle call of St. Mary’s Church” in Krakow, which warned the city of foreign invaders to the Capital.

The proud tradition of the Hejnal Song & Dance Ensemble began in 1974 by its founders Mr. Frank Wdowczyk and the late Mr. Leslie Kabas. Although originally established with contributions from five local organizations, as part of the cities’ Bell Centennial Celebrations, it is now housed and supported by the Polish Mutual Benefit and Friendly Society on 154 Pearl Street. Brantford, Ontario, Canada.

Hejnal, with its 65 members varying in age from 3-18 has entertained audiences in and out of Southern Ontario for over 40 years. Some of its venues have included London, Kitchener, Woodstock, Cambridge, Delhi, Toronto at the CNE, Blue Jays game, and CHIN picnic, and most notably the International Folklore Festival in Rzeszow Poland.

Hejnal is pleased to be celebrating its 40th Anniversary and is under the Artistic Direction of Ms Dianne Wdowczyk, and is privileged to benefit from the talents of choreographer Ms. Sarah Poremba
